Follow the steps below to configure Mail for Windows XP for SMTP Authentication.

How to Configure Mail for Outlook for SMTP Authentication

 

  1. Open Outlook
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Email Accounts.
  3. Decide whether you wish to Add or change and click Next
  4. below is the wizard screen for adding the account will be a POP3 or IMAP
  5. If you are changing then scroll down 1
  6. Enter you details as shown..obviously replacing with your email address and password.
  7. Before you test or click next you need to click More Settings
  8. You can rename your account on the general Tab if you want
  9. Click the Outgoing Server Tab
    Tick My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication
  10. Tick the radial button use same settings as my incoming mail server
    Click OK or move to the Advanced Tab to setup Leave a copy
  11. IF you want to leave a copy of mail on the server (POP3)
    you can set this in the tab Advanced tab as shown below
  12. Once you have finshed click OK and then Next in the Email account Window and Finsh

    your all done !
